WS was incorporated in 2009 as an R & D company that would find methods of improving existing building systems through innovation

IWS sits below its parent company, Glenalmond Timber Company (GTC), which is a family owned and run timber supplier based in Perth, Scotland. IWS and GTC operate from two facilities in Perth (The Harbour & Methven). GTC imports timber into its harbour facility and distributes throughout the UK with particular emphasis on the Scottish market. The harbour facility also houses the UK’s largest timber treatment operation (21m tanks for Fire Retardant and Preservative treatments plus a 12m tank for Ultra-Joist treatment). They also provide stevedoring, warehousing and distribution for the Egger brand of sheet materials. The parent company are also the owners of the Ultra-Joist brand which is Super-Dried (average maximum moisture content of 14%), Graded, Finger Jointed timber. The Methven facility houses GTC’s manufacturing operation including the UK’s largest structural finger joint line and a state of the art Hundegger CNC which shapes and creates bespoke holes in timber and glulam up to 40 foot long. IWS, in conjunction with key industry partners, has been developing and promoting products that aid in the compliance with existing and future building regulations.
